The Zink House
Based on the town plan of the Dutchman Adrian Geuzes, a new intense urban quarter takes shape in the Copenhagen Nordhavn (North port). In the centre of the quarter’s open space lies the ”Zinc House” – an outstanding block consisting of 60 exclusive owner-occupied flats.
The block is built as a sculptural box, tipped up towards the western light and the view of the town. This ’lift’ ensures light and air underneath the house and connects the house with the open space – both visually with a view underneath the house and across the open space – and functionally due to the arcade with shops. In the arcade you also find the entrance to the block’s private courtyard with green plants and an ornamental pond.
