Little Belt Bridge

The 1,700 metre long bridge is constructed around the two loadbearing, 120 metre high pylons. Two long main cables lie across them from which the bridge roadway itself is suspended with the help of vertical hanging cables. The main cables are firmly secured on the landward sides by massive concrete anchors, each of which weighs 70,000 tonnes. The pylons were cast in situ in a climbing formwork and anchored beneath the water in huge concrete caissons. The bridge roadway is assembled with 12 metre long, prefabricated concrete elements with an aerodynamic edge profile which, like the wings of an aeroplane, meet the wind and allow it to pass across the bridge.
